The condo was in disrepair. Drywall patches were not painted, baseboard was missing, walls were scraped and needed repair/paint, and one of the bathroom doors wouldn't shut.

Basic things seemed off. There was a towel over one of the windows in the bedroom. Nice. Topsheets were used instead of fitted sheets on the beds. No blowdryer. It's been over 10 years since I have stayed in a place had no blowdryer, so I don't bring one on holidays any more. So, no dry hair. Dishes were chipped. The toaster hadn't been wiped off. Salt and pepper shakers were empty.

Extremely overpriced accommodations for over $300 per night. The townhouse 'complex' is nothing more than a hodge podge of poorly designed and badly constructed duplexes that resemble low income housing in a bad part of town. Cheap doesn't even begin to describe them. The overpowering stench of deodorizer upon entering the unit begs the question, 'what are they trying to cover up?' Narrow stairs lead to two 'deluxe' bedrooms with their own bathrooms. The owners of this place seriously need to visit other places and see what comfortable accommodations are because this is not it. The double sized beds were like something from 1969, hard and thin, complete with two flat pillows and thin, cheap polyester covers on them that also look circa 1970. The Roman blind in one bedroom was so thin and shoddy that it resembled a bad high school home ec project. The gravel & mud parking area right outside the front door leads to an unfinished porch that reminds you of a cheap motel except that you expect to see garbage cans and an old hound dog chained to it. Out back is another wide open unfinished deck with nothing on it but a bbq where you can mingle with the neighbours or walk out to the weed patch. When we asked if there was anything else available we were shown one of the cabins. It was so bad they had the windows open and the fan going to try to disperse the even more powerful deodorizer scent. Situated in the middle of a gravel pit, it actually was frightening to think of anyone staying there. The owners were indignant and insulted by our unhappiness, even though we tried to be nice about it, and claimed they had been there for 10 years without anyone ever expressing our views. Obviously by other comments this is not true. Lunch at the cafe was terrible although the staff was lovely as was the worker in the front office. Very disappointing accommodations and even more disturbing was the way the owners dealt with us. Don't waste your money or your time here, it is an absolutely lacklustre rip off. Any good reviews may be for the golfing but certainly nothing else. Total rip off. You'll find better accommodations at a cheap hotel.

I looked on a map, and Candle Lake is not in the middle of nowhere. Maybe they need to stop thinking of themselves in those terms.

All of this would have been no problem for a reasonable price. If $150 was the going price for a ratty condo, we would have said, No problem, it's a nice big place, we got a good deal.

Nice course, good restaurant and decent pro shop considering how remote the place is.

There is much to be said about the Candle Lake Golf Resort. The patio has a beautiful view of the lake. The service is exemplary. Great food. Friendly staff. All around wonderful atmosphere. Definitely worth a trip. Some personal favorites are the fish and chips, and the beef dip.

For over $300, however, this condo was a bad deal and the lack of wifi and decent satellite was inconvenient.

I am writing a one-star review because we were very unhappy with our accommodations. We booked a condo in the resort area, paying over $300 per night. For $300 bucks, there are certain expectations, which were not met.

First, the condos have no wifi. Cabins evidently do, but not condos. When I talked to the rental agency at the golf course about this, they said the trees were too tall. Really? First of all, if the trees are too tall, why do cabins have wifi? Also, I have family members who got wifi on mountains in South America; but central Saskatchewan is too far in the wilderness for wifi? Look, this is basic to all accommodations nowadays, if you are not going to offer it, tell us up front. Also, the cable package consisted of 300 channels with about 6 actual different channels. Wow. Good thing it didn't constantly rain, leaving us stranded inside with peasant TV. Oh, wait, it did. In fairness, if you want to go to some effort, DVD players can be procured and there were lots of DVD rentals in various places, but we were only there for a short time to spend so much time running around and setting DVD players up.

The golf course itself is fine. The area is very nice, with a grocery and restaurants. The clubhouse at the golf course is very attractive and has great amenities.
